PTFE (TFE) and PVDF both are on allocation.
TFE sheet products, PTFE (TFE) along with PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The world demand for this mineral has increased significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and very low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is used in a great deal of applications from non-stick fry griddles to ptfe tape for personal use. This particular mineral is actually the critical raw material in the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and a lot of refrigerants. This surge in demand joined together with general shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double over the past year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
